Poodle - Standard
This elegant, active and bright dog has a slender muzzle and long neck. The coat is naturally curly and dense. Poodles are sociable pooches. With a friendly nature and a love of games, Poodles are great for families with kids—providing the environment is stable and relaxed.
Large, deep chested dogs should be fed carefully to avoid bloat. Two meals per day is safer than one large meal.
Poodles don't tend to shed so they can be tolerated by allergic people. Their coats generally need professional grooming, as well as regular at-home combing and brushing. Poodles should be clipped every 6-8 weeks. The poodle’s ears need frequent cleaning to avoid infection and, especially in the smaller poodles, daily teeth brushing is recommended or tartar will build up rapidly and lead to gingivitis.
